Emily Dickinson, 1774

In smoel dat graasje mist, gefoel,
In haatlik, hurd, suksesfol smoel,
In smoelwurk dêr’t in stien
Him hiel fertroud by fiele soe
As oft er it al tiden koe -
Foar ’t earst no gearbruid - ien.

A face devoid of love or grace,
A hateful, hard, successful face,
A face with which a stone
Would feel as thoroughly at ease
As were they old acquaintances -
First time together thrown.
