Emily Dickinson, 1570

Hoe lokkich is dat Stientsje dêr,
Dat oer de Dyk swerft, solitêr,
En net om rjochte Banen jout
En noait Needwindichheden skout -
In Jas draacht fan grûnstoflik Brún,
Troch in Hielal dat lânsgong jûn,
En ûnôfhinklik as de sinne
Komt it gear of gloeit allinne,
Folget sûnder twang of need
Yn ienfâld in abslút Dekreet -

How happy is the little Stone
That rambles in the Road alone,
And does’nt care about Careers
And Exigencies never fears -
Whose Coat of elemental Brown
A passing Universe put on,
And independent as the sun,
Associates or glows alone,
Fulfilling absolute Decree
In casual simplicity -
