E.E. Cummings, ‘djip dreamen op’

djip dreamen op
dat gjin slogan dy omtriuwt
(in beam is syn woartels
en wyn is wyn)

betrou dyn hert
as de see yn brân fljocht
(en libje fan leafde
al rinne de stjerren tebek)

earje wat west hat
mar hjit de takomst wolkom
(en dûnsje dyn dea
op dizze brulloft fuort)

maal net om in wrâld
fol smjunten of helden
(want god hâldt fan famkes
en moarn en de ierde)

dive for dreams
or a slogan may topple you
(trees are their roots
and wind is wind)

trust your heart
if the seas catch fire
(and live by love
though the stars walk backward)

honour the past
but welcome the future
(and dance your death
away at this wedding)

never mind a world
with its villains or heroes
(for god likes girls
and tomorrow and the earth)
